Markstein Beverage Co. exists today because of the foresight and ingenuity of those who came before us. We are committed to supporting projects that pave the way for advancement in business and in life for generations to come.
Markstein Beverage Co. is proud to support a variety of philanthropic endeavors, including:
Advancing Higher Education
Adolph Markstein never went to college, but he made sure the next generation did. The Markstein Family is dedicated to the growth of our educational institutions. In 1991, the Markstein family established the first scholarship to the College of Business Administration at CSU San Marcos.
In 2005, Ken Markstein and his wife Carole made an endowment toward construction of the school’s state-of-the-art business school building, today called Markstein Hall. In the 10 years since its dedication, Markstein Hall has evolved into a central square for the exchange of business ideas and technology at the university.
The V Foundation for Cancer Research
Jim Valvano – or “Jimmy V” – is a familiar name to anyone who loves basketball, and anyone that cares about the fight against cancer. After being diagnosed with incurable bone cancer, Jimmy V spent the fleeting years of his life promoting cancer research and, more importantly, the power of positive thought and the gift of life itself.
Since his death in 1993, Jimmy V’s influential message lives on. Markstein Beverage Co. is proud to support the V Foundation’s tireless efforts to eradicate cancer and has supported the foundation for five years running.
In support of advancing healthcare and supporting wellness initiatives in the coastal town of Encinitas, the Markstein family made a five-year pledge to Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas starting in 2016.
The Campaign for Scripps Encinitas aims to enhance the hospital’s surgical, emergency and acute care facilities, including two new state-of-the-art operating rooms, expansion of the pre-operative care unit and an upgrade of the hospital’s existing operating suites and endoscopy department.
